History of Instructor:

Paul Duffee started training in the martial arts back in March of 1977. This was an Americanized form of karate that he was introduced to and trained in for many years. Duffee started teaching in 1983 for his instructor at that time and then opened his own school approximately a year later. After running a dojo for years there were many unsettled questions that were not being answered, then Paul had the opportunity and privilege to train in Shorin Ryu Karate-do under the instructor of Carl Long, Shihan starting back in 2006. He has continued to grow with Long, Sensei and Shimabukuro, Hanshi and is passing the information on to his students. Also training in Iaijutsu (drawing and cutting with the sword like the samurai of the past) there has been a whole new world of technique and understanding of the way (the path of life). This is all valuable information that Mr. Duffee feels that should be past on to our youth to make stronger and more responsible leaders of the future. He also believes in uniting the body, mind, and spirit as one, this makes for a more complete and whole person that utilizes all their abilities, and so this is why he has chosen a traditional Japanese name (Sanshinkan) for his school stating just that.
